Surrrrrvey!
over 5 years ago – Mon, Dec 24, 2018 at 09:21:00 PM

Happy day before Christmas, everyone. I hope you are not working unless you want to. I'm working, but it's fun, because we just hit 1,000 backers.

Here is a quick survey for you: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QC7K6LS This is about the way you use miniatures, and it will guide us both for upcoming Ogre Minis projects and for the events we might run at the mini-convention.

Please take the survey even if you are not a minis user at all, because "I don't use minis" is also valid and important info for us. Thank you!

And There We Go!
over 5 years ago – Sun, Dec 23, 2018 at 11:41:01 PM

The campaign just passed $100,000 – much more than we had hoped for when we started. It also got a lot bigger than expected – two double-sided maps, twelve sheets of counters and overlays . . . And we have four days left to go!

There will not be any more stretch goals; we have not forgotten the lesson we learned with the original Ogre Designer's Edition. Your further support increases the already good odds that Ogre Battlefields 2 will happen and that there will be some more miniatures before very long.

However, we do have a NON-stretch-goal thing for you. This is just a present. We are adding one more erasable Ogre card to the set: a III-B for the Iron Mountain scenario. I believe this makes seven total.

I've said it before, and I'll probably say it again before this one is over: thank you for the amazing level of support and for the good suggestions and comments that you made as this project went forward. We can't do it without you.

See You In Austin?
over 5 years ago – Wed, Dec 19, 2018 at 09:40:59 PM

As the campaign passes $90K, this is a great time for an Unofficial Early Leak.

We have reserved space for Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7, for a mini-convention here in Austin. One of the games we will be featuring, for sure, is Ogre. Those who were at the Ogre release party know what to expect: a laid-back event with plenty of opportunities to play and to meet the people who make your games. There will also be some peeks at upcoming projects and probably some new releases you can take home.

We'll announce here when we have a registration system set up; this is really an Early Leak. Things we don't know yet include how many spaces we'll have available (maybe as low as 200), whether we'll have a room block at a local hotel (discussions are underway), and what the weather will be like (might be wonderful, might not).

The $100K Stretch Goal
over 5 years ago – Wed, Dec 19, 2018 at 12:14:08 AM

There was a lot of discussion here about the $100K stretch goal. It’s the last goal we will do, so it has to be both worthy of your support and affordable for us. With the help of your comments and suggestions, we have something, and it’s a bit early to announce it, but neither is there any real reason to keep it under our Ogre hats.

Right now, Sheet 2 of the set is a singleton. It contains upward of 50 revetments, entrenchments, specialist infantry, and LADS. If $100K is reached, we will add TWO more of this sheet, for a total of 3.

And we’ll tweak the originally planned sheet a bit, to make room for ODE-styled Iron Mountain counters. You’ll get 5 armored trucks added to each sheet, and one light HWZ, for a total of 15 trucks and three LHWZ. That not only lets you play Iron Mountain, but vary and rebalance it . . . or just take that section of light howitzers into your PE order of battle. (The Combine doesn’t have these, as far as we know.)

This will give us a total of 12 sheets in the box, where two were originally promised: Sheet A - the new Ogres, including swimmers, and radar towers. Sheet B - 2-D units - three copies of this sheet. Sheet C - overlays - two copies of this sheet. Sheets D through G - re-skins of die B from ODE (one sheet for each of four factions - Nihon, Vatican Guard, ARF, and my favorite, the Sons of Nassau tiger guys.) Sheets H and I - re-skins of dies K and L, with new-faction Ogres.

This lets us meet four of your more frequent requests:

• More entrenchments and revetments for the big map.

• More LADs. Lots for the major factions, and a few for some minor factions.

• All Ogre names stay unique.

• Counters to play Iron Mountain on mat M2.

So, with over 100 new counters, we're ending with a bang. Thank you!

Weekend Report
over 5 years ago – Sun, Dec 16, 2018 at 08:37:46 PM

While we are definitely in the "doldrums" right now, your support has not stopped. We are steadily chipping away at the $90K stretch goal . . . almost halfway as this is posted.

We're going to include PDFs of S2 and G2 when we post S3 and G3. This is not a stretch goal - this is just a gift for you because you deserve it.

Phil, Drew, and I are discussing what might be a good $100K goal. I think there is little doubt that we will hit 90. 100 might really be a stretch, though the last couple of days of a campaign can be surprising. So we want to make this as awesome as we can, within the bounds of feasibility. It will surely incorporate some of the suggestions you have made; our discussions now are just "how many can we work in" ?
